With Conflux, Zohreh Galdizadeh places an aesthetic experience directly in the distance between the magnetic attraction and the attractive reflection, a directive that softens material to shape new and progressive social tendencies.

About

Cabin Contemporary is pleased to present Conflux, an installation of new works by Zohreh Galdizadeh.

In On the Nature of The Universe, Lucretius suggests,

“…all nature as it is in itself consists of two things – bodies and the vacant space in which the bodies are situated and through which they move in different directions.”

The dual attraction of Galdizadeh’s mirrors and magnets extend this notion toward a new materialist presentation. In the vacancy between the subject and object she exposes the possible truth of our relationship to nature: we may only be an extension of our encounters with matter. Zoreh’s installations activate the connective and repulsive tendencies existing between human and natural demands for attention. With Conflux, Zohreh Galdizadeh places an aesthetic experience directly in the distance between the magnetic attraction and the attractive reflection, a directive that softens material to shape new and progressive social tendencies.

Zohreh Galdizadeh (b.1989) is from Iran. She holds a BA in graphic design from Ferdows Institute of Higher Education (Iran) and an MFA in Studio Art with a focus on installation and sculpture from Georgia Southern University (Statesboro, GA USA). Galdizadeh served as Instructor of Record in 2D Art and Design Foundations and Digital Foundations at Georgia Southern. In 2020, she received The Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art Carolyn Joyner Memorial Scholarship. Her work has been included in several group shows in Iran and the US. Conflux is her first solo exhibit in the United States. She is currently based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, US.
