The exhibition will reflect on a two-day permaculture workshop led by artist and environmentalist Charles Pryor in October 2017, showcasing new work by participating artists within the curatorial studio, Jupiter Woods. Following the opening event, the documentation of the project including works by Charles Pryor, Natalie Kynigopoulou and Yem Gel will be on view until Sunday 25th March.
The Gathering is inspired by ‘intra-actions’, a neologism devised in 2007 by feminist theorist Karen Barad. To intra-act reframes our understanding of where agency comes from suggesting it is through relationships and connections that individuals materialise. By adopting the motif of two intra-acting objects, the Möbius strip and Klein bottle, the second iteration of this project thinks through feedback loops and analogue signals, of fermentation and self-sustaining systems.
The Conditions for Ongoingness project aims to cultivate strategies for coping with an uncertain future with a focus on practical and sustainable alternatives to current dominant narratives. Fostering an interdisciplinary approach, the project works across art, science and ecology to produce and share knowledge between different groups of people.
