Concrete Picnic is a Pop Up exhibition showing a selection of work from Lancaster University Students.
About
Concrete Picnic is a group exhibition which sets a site for a synthesis of lively thought and practical approaches within contemporary artistic practices. The exhibition ranges from smell-able art to sculpture, and from sound to expanded painting.
The show’s aesthetic is informed by its site – an old furness in which materials resonate with 1960s construction and architecture. Playfulness features within this interaction as works juxtapose each other across the exhibition; one side focuses on construction aesthetics, the other explores interactions that form and take place within the built environment. These topics allude to new and ongoing discussions around contemporary art such as the role of a medium, situation and interaction.
The exhibition is featured across two venues: Camp and Furnace and The Baltic Social. Please join us for our opening at Camp and Furnace at 6:30pm, before progressing to The Baltic Social.
