The Manson Ensemble is the Royal Academy of Music's specialist contemporary music ensemble. Their first concert was at the Aldeburgh Festival in 1968, and they play regularly at the Academy and in festivals around Britain. The group works regularly with the London Sinfonietta, and has also collaborated with student composers from the Academy and The Juilliard School in New York. They have performed works by Berio, Carter, Donatoni, Henze, Kagel, Kurtág, Lutoslawski, Messiaen, Nyman, Penderecki and Tippett in the presence of these composers.
