Valeria Stenkina, soprano and Julian Gallant, piano PROGRAMME Hugo Wolf (1860-1903) | Verborgenheit | In dem Schatten meiner Lokken | Lebe wohl | Ich hab in Penna einen Liebsten wohnen Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) | Rückertlieder INTERVAL Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971) | Vesna Op6 No1 Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975) | Satiri Op109 VALERIA STENKINA — born in Samara, Valeria Stenkina graduated from the St.Petersburg State Conservatoire with honours. Her début recitals took place in Moscow in 1989, after which she became a soloist of the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic. She gathered an impressive array of Grand Prix in numerous international competitions, including Toulouse in 1990, the Mozart competition in Salzburg in 1991 and the Francisco Vinas competition in Barcelona in 1991. As a result she appeared with major symphony orchestras in Austria, Germany, Finland, France, Denmark, Spain and the USA.... JULIAN GALLANT read music at St Anne's College 1984-1987, then pursued his studies as a pianist in Switzerland. Since his piano début recital at St John's Smith Square in 1992 he has performed all over the world as a soloist and with ensembles including the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Orquestra Sinfonica Brasiliera, Kiev Chamber Orchestra and Moscow Virtuosi....
