Join in with our Community Takeover, a celebration of the ideas and talents of local people in Southampton.
About
For this year's Communtity Takeover, we will explore the theme of food and how it connects people of all ages and backgrounds, featuring exhibitions, events and workshops in response to Southampton’s food culture, heritage, wellbeing and sustainability.We have been working with local schools, charities, and community leaders to transform Gallery 1 into a vibrant and creative space. Enjoy new work by Sholing Infant School, Upper Shirley High, Southampton, Winchester Visitor Group, The Prince’s Trust, and our youth group, JHG Collective, amongst many others.
Do you have a favourite recipe to share or a special memory of food? We invite you to contribute your stories and build the space with us. Visitors can also take part in activities, talks and events throughout the Takeover.
Community Takeover offers a space for exploration and play where communities can come together and share in our commitment to being a welcoming and inclusive space for all. It has been co-created with the JHG Ambassadors, a group of local people who have volunteered their time since May 2023.
