About
From May 17 to June 11, 2023, the interdisciplinary series Common Ground will be consolidated into a platform with several events per week. To this end, the Namibian sound researcher Memory Biwa and the South African musician Robert Machiri – both form the collective Listening at Pungwe (Fellows 2021) – are transforming the daadgalerie into a space for improvisation, collaboration and exchange. Current and former Fellows of the Berlin Artists' Program use this space to present their work and engage in conversation. Common Groundmoves through different fields of play and knowledge and points to possible intersections: the continued effect of colonial power structures and extractivist processes, the confrontation with borders and territories, with collective action as protest, with more-than-human forms of life, with experimentation and poetry. The open gallery space will change constantly over the course of Common Ground and also provide insights into the archive of the Berlin artist program. Visitors are invited to draw on the walls, swap books, watch historical videos and films, or put on music.
