Landscapes and figures depicting quirky social and political narratives from post war optimism to the swinging sixties.
About
From 8 February - 15 March 2020 The Lightbox will be exhibiting work by Roy Ralph (1931 - 2005) in the Art Fund Prize Gallery. The exhibition will showcase a selection of earlier work, spanning the 1940s to the 1960s with a vast array of subject matter including landscapes, figures and social comment.
Roy Ralph approached painting and drawing with an intellectual playfulness and much of his hugely varied subject matter carried a deeper narrative. Combining strong linear design with colour he created his own unmistakeable style.
Roy Ralph trained at Epsom and the Royal College of Art. He worked at the British Museum in Prints and Drawings and Oriental Antiquities.
