On this online event, Ayse will be reading poems written in free verse, from her new poetry book "Come To Tower". The verses were originaly written to be performed as a beat poetry accompanied with music.
Poems contain an uncanny ryhtm and they come to life with soothing deep and pasisonate voice of the author.
Audiences are encourage to create a dialgoue.
Ayse Balkos's first book, Come To Tower aims to bring out the supprest emotions of becoming a woman in a lonely enviroment and having to learn everything in life by making all the mistaskes and going through the phsical, emotional isolaiton and hardship to find the true self and meaning in life. As a woman now and a daughter of a widower, she reflects back to the darkness that shaped her and finds ways to throw away that blanket.
Naked she stands with her words, her poems paints a real modern woman who travers between the baulders of tradition, religion, individuality and hope.
A must read poetry that comes from early womanhood lived in Turkey and healing/maturity period lived in UK.
