A joint exhibition by Ribble Creative Stitchers and the Bolton Stitch and Textile Group at Astley Hall Coach House Gallery in Chorley brings together the work of over 70 textile artists working in the community all around Lancashire.

About

The exhibition is inspired by the people and places of our home county. For some of us, the rural landscapes of hills, moors and coastal areas, and the habitat they provide for native animals and birds, are a major source of creativity. For others, the architecture of some of our historic buildings and the urban landscapes of the mill towns act as a stimulus.

We use a combination of both traditional and contemporary textile practices, coupled with mixed-media techniques, to produce creative and inspiring textile art.

Each group member brings a unique perspective, having their own background, experiences, skills, and style of working. Some group members have exhibited nationally and for others this will be the first time that they’ve contributed to an exhibition. It is that diversity that ensures the work on show will be varied and interesting.

For both textile groups, a key value is that we share skills, helping to support, develop and inspire each other through our monthly meetings. We use visiting textile tutors, from all areas of the country, to pass on their techniques and knowledge and to ensure that our work stays current and exciting. Everyone is welcome to join. The only entry requirement is a love of textiles.
