Join me for ‘Colours of the Earth’ workshop. ‘Pigment to Paint’ is a unique and immersive workshop where you will have the opportunity to create your own colour palette and take home with you a set of organic and handmade watercolours!
About
This workshop is dedicated to artists, creators, aesthete and nature-lovers! Drawing on ancient resources of the Thames estuary and using bedrocks of the city as a repository for artistic expression, participants will learn to transform ordinary sedimentary rocks into luxurious watercolours. Enjoy the alchemic experience of making paints and the science behind preparing them. While pigments are being prepared, participants will be exposed to the anatomy of paint: pigment and natural binders. At the end of the workshop, participants will have fun with their new colour palette and will work together to produce a collaborative painting. Embrace your inner primitive instinct and book your tickets sooner rather than later!
*Each participant will receive a ‘Creating Colour Toolkit’, which includes instructions on making natural paint, and all other materials required.
Christine Chua is a Singaporean artist based in London, and a recent Fine Art graduate at the Slade School of Fine Art. Her work focuses on collecting found objects and foraging pigments for her installation works and ongoing drawing practice. Through her installation artworks, the artists challenges the legacy of site specific art, the alchemical process involved in creating clay sculpture and the organic sourcing of art materials.
