Colours of Memory
: The Acceptance of Transience and Imerfection
A duo exhibition of paintings and textiles art
About
Two artists explores the theme of 'the acceptance of transience and imperfection'.
"I wrote a letter to myself on canvas, then covered it all up with thick layers of paints. I wanted to hide my pain. On top of the layers, I poured white paint, so that it'd look just white.
Yet while drying, paint cracked and dissolved into white powder, revealing all the colours underneath.
When you try too hard to cover your weakness and pain, it only becomes more visible."
- Yoonjung Lee (painting)
" I found fallen petals on my home from the breakup. I picked them up. They were just started to fade and brown at the edge, just like my relationship. I painted very thin silk as the colours of fallen petals with reactive dye.
Years later, the petals are totally browned, leaving no hint of its original colours. But the silk still contains that exact colour, fresh and vivid, just browned a little on the edge.
There are things that are still so vivid in my memory, but long gone in reality. So I called it <Time>."
- Hyoi (textiles)
