A merging of the abstract and figurative in striking, colour rich works are showcased in Kate Trafeli's abstract paintings at Skylark Galleries 2 OXO Tower
Kate Trafeli's current body of works are focussed on utilising colour theory to express memory and structure: colours interact and affect one another in striking compositions to create a whole that is both mysterious and transporting.
Kate explores how we instinctively relate to colour and shapes strongly and individually. The myriad of unpredictable events in any human life that domino into other effects and the emotions make up the 'circus' she interprets in her works.
These paintings may also be viewed as internal landscapes tracing memory and time and distance between people and places. How experience and feeling can make an event or a private or public history seem very ‘present’ despite the occurrence itself being in the far past. These experiences, histories, difficulties, decisions and journeys lead us to someplace else literally as well as figuratively.
We look forward to welcoming you to our gallery on the first floor of the iconic OXO Tower Wharf building.
