About

Workshop with Janette Summerfield RBSA

Equip yourself with the confidence to use colour with pastel techniques to create exciting and imaginative images.

Janette studied Three-Dimensional Design at Birmingham Polytechnic and practised as a commercial interior designer for several years and is now a full-time artist. She was elected as an associate of the RBSA in 2008 and as a member in 2010. Janette is a Member of the Society of Women Artists and regularly exhibits with them. Janette works predominantly in pastels having first used them at an RBSA workshop! She loves their vibrancy, versatility and the fact she does not have to wash up any brushes! Janette’s initial explorations centred on the effects of light and shade within the landscape. More recently, she has considered the effects of colour on the landscape - how colours combine, contrast and complement each other. Although Janette’s work is turning increasingly to abstraction, she still looks to the landscape for inspiration.
