Come and be inspired by the stunning International Textile Collection. Join us to create a collectively made artwork exploring pattern by translating motifs selected from the collection.
A special Light Night workshop with visual artist Isabella Carreras.
In a unique after-hours experience work with artist Isabella Carreras and create a special piece. This drop-in workshop will take inspiration from the current International Textile Collection display. ‘Fabrics of a Decorative Kind’ presents highlights of the geographically diverse collections. Find out how these incredible international textiles came to the University of Leeds.
Isabella Carreras is a visual artist and produces socially engaged art projects. Her practice clashes archive and museum collection research with impulsive or unusual materials and processes to make activity-centred installation, costume, sculpture, painting etc. Isabella also designs costumes for live art and performance and has worked for artist and curator Mark Fell for his shows at Frieze Art Fair London, Live Arts Week Bologna and South London Gallery and music producer Harry Wright from punk techno duo Giant Swan.
Recent projects include an art residency at Jatiwangi Art Factory (Indonesia) as part of the West Java West Yorkshire Cooperative Movement and projects with Gunnersbury Park Museum and BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art.
Light Night Leeds is the UK’s largest annual arts and light festival. This spectacular two night event takes over Leeds city centre. Discover more than 60 dazzling installations and performances from artists.
