Laura Yuile and curator Nora O Murchú in conversation around Laura's new film work 'Gated Community'.
About
Laura Yuile's recent film work, Gated Community, commissioned by Collective during lockdown, examines how our homes became multi-functional spaces for work, care, self-improvement (or not), staying connected and imagining how our society might change. Filmed entirely from her flat, the work has a DIY aesthetic and uses TV Sitcom tropes to depict the life of its central characters.
At this live online event, Laura Yuile and curator Nora O Murchú will be in conversation exploring some of Gated Community's themes. They will focus on ideas explored in the film, including how the role of screen-based technologies changed through the COVID-19 emergency, how the information we see on our screens is tailored to our consumer profile, and how this shapes our understanding of what is going on in the world, enabling and limiting our access to services, products and entertainment.
Free event, donations requested. Please book in advance via Eventbrite.
