13 Sep 2019 – 25 Jan 2020
Autograph
London, United Kingdom
£5 / £4
Explore how to use photo-collage to create new meanings and narratives from images, with artist Cherelle Sappleton.
This hands-on workshop will take inspiration from Autograph's current exhibition by Lina Iris Viktor and her use of tactile, intricately layered surfaces to imagine new narratives of blackness and the body.
You're encouraged to bring your own photographs, family snaps, archives or found images to feed into the creative process. Reproductions from Autograph's archive will also be provided.
The afternoon will start with a guided exhibition tour of Some Are Born To Endless Night — Dark Matter, and end with an opportunity to share and reflect on the process and resulting creations.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Cherelle Sappleton is a visual artist and melophile living and working in London. Her practice centres on photographic media with an interest in feminist agendas and performance utilising abstraction and surrealist aesthetics.
Blending these elements together, the work she makes uses the black female body as a starting point to explore and respond to issues of representation, agency and the materiality of photographs via collage, moving image and photography.
Her current exhibition Semblance is currently at Sutton House, London.
