Some 270 works by 160 artists, wide ranging in styles, media and backgrounds produced during 2020. The artworks are in response to an open call, curated by artist Rod Kitson. Those works that are for sale range from £3 to £1,400.
About
Class of 2020 tells the story of the year though the eyes of some 160 artists of all backgrounds and ages who responded to an open call by curator Rod Kitson to exhibit any work produced during this calendar year.
The 270 entries fill the repurposed shop at Surrey Quays Shopping Centre and include entries from Uruguay, Chicago, New Jersey, Dubai, Malaysia, France and Belgium.
London-based Italian artist Sylvia Difino's "Popcorn Art" features many unframed portraits on sale for £3 each, the price of popcorn; Princess Palacol's "Midnight Drive," (£100) describes driving at night with a playlist during this surreal year, and Andrea Santi's "Self Portrait during lockdown," (£1,400) reflects her mental health.
The show is thought-provoking, moving, and many works are within the budget of shoppers, in time for Xmas.
