Curated by Joanna Delson, "Cityvision" address the organic entity that is a city, whether real or imagined.

About

On View: September 14 - October 25, 2023

Opening Reception: Thursday, September 14 from 6-8 PM (RSVP here!)

Curator: Joanna Delson

In this show, the artists of Fountain House Gallery address the organic entity that is a city, whether real or imagined. Elements of the urban environment, ranging from striking skylines, refreshing green spaces, and on-the-go city dwellers to teeming construction sites and other challenges of life in a densely populated locale are depicted in works in a variety of mediums.

"New "planned cities" have been springing up all over the world during the last 25 years. Old and existing cities constantly have to adapt to population growth or decline, climate change, pollution, transportation issues, a lack of or even at times an abundance of resources. The pandemic brought about changes in the way people live and interact in cities. The exhibition "Cityvision" showcases works that tell a story about what a city is, should be, or can be, whether the city is real, imagined, a dream city, or anywhere in between. The artworks present aspects of cities from its buildings to its people, to its garbage, its animals, its green spaces or lack thereof."- Joanna Delson, Curator

Joanna Delson, a born and bred New Yorker, is an interior space planner and designer with her own business, Space Management Design. Her expertise is helping people stay in their too small apartments in New York City. Joanna is also a community activist with a focus on urban life. She is the executive vice president of CIVITAS, an organization that works on quality-of-life issues on the Upper East Side and East Harlem. And she is a founding member of Landmark East Harlem. She loves cities and has lived in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, and Pittsburgh. In 2018, Joanna redesigned an East Harlem art gallery pro bono.
