City of Dust views London as a memory palace made physical, a place where the layering of history and memory is on open view for anyone willing to see it, and where the past is constantly being disinterred and encountered at unexpected moments.
About
Lewis Bush’s new photography series City of Dust relates walking with memory to explore the past and present of London. City of Dust views London as a memory palace made physical, a place where the layering of history and memory is on open view for anyone willing to see it, and where the past is constantly being disinterred and encountered at unexpected moments. At the same time the series also comments on London’s continued redevelopment and gentrification, the sanitisation and destruction of these vestiges of the past, and the city’s gradual transformation into a metropolis without memory. City of Dust is published as a newsprint publication which also constitutes a self-contained exhibition which can be taken away by visitors. The exhibition will be on display at Westminster Reference Library in July 2016.
