About

spotteart.com presents "Circling Pareidolia" online exhibition

New York City – March 9th, 2017 - Spotteart.com, an online exhibition space for contemporary art & design introduces a new exhibition titled “Circling Pareidolia". Celebrating its 3 year anniversary, Spotteart.com has been putting together internet-based art shows since its launch in early 2014. "Circling Pareidolia" features work by artists Lorenzo Taini (IT) and Christina Massey (US). Collections are available for purchase online from Match 6th, 2017.

Christina Massey is a mixed media artist, based in Brooklyn, NY. Her work teeters on the edge of the painting, fiber arts, and sculpture. The artist is frequently exhibited around the US and has shown abroad in cities such as London, Toronto, and Tokyo. Her work is in multiple private and public collections, has won multiple awards and residencies and is being featured in this year’s SPRING/BREAK Art Show with two upcoming solo exhibitions later this year. The artist uses techniques such as weaving and hand stitching to highlight, enhance and contradict the typical painter's canvas, turning the works into highly textural, abstracted versions of paintings themselves. Her series for Spotte's "Circling Pareidolia" show shares a sensitivity to materials, form, and process with an inspiration from textiles and re-purposed products.

Lorenzo Taini (b.77) is based in Milan, Italy, and trained in the studio arts at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera. He is known for creating minimalist sutured works on canvas, works on paper, and assembled installations that explore the themes of continuity, fragility, and recurrence. Lorenzo started his career as an apprentice to such art critics as Francesco Lionetti, Ermanno Krumm, Marco Meneguzzo and Giovanni Maria Accame. His texts and critiques have been published in Flash Art, Arte e Critica and other art publications. Taini has also worked with such modern abstract painters as Grazia Varisco, Claudio Olivieri, Carla Accardi and Eugenio Giliberti. His Spotte-exclusive collection "Hanging Repetition" shows us how the interpretation of big themes, such as concepts of time or space, could be suspended & made interim by the very difference that this repetition produces. His intention is to move lofty concepts from philosophy into a relationship between a man and a thing.

SpotteArt's current exhibition also partners with SlideLuck, a non-profit arts platform, for a fundraising initiative to support their after-school arts program titled SLYI. Exhibited photo pieces by photography students mentored by SLYI instructors are available for sale. Spotte's patrons are encouraged to support and acquire this unique a selection of works. All proceeds go to support programming photography classes for children and young adults in underserved communities across the country and abroad.

Since launching the site in March 2014, Spotteart.com has become the leading independent online exhibition platform, offering more than 650 original works of art & design by 70+ contemporary artists in a wide range of mediums, from photography to sculpture. The web-only gallery exhibits contemporary art & design collections online seasonally. Participating artists select or create a compact group of works available exclusively at Spotte. These collections are accompanied with biographies and statements by the artists, as well as updated with weekly blog features dedicated to artists’ backgrounds and aesthetics.
