London art gallery Aleph Contemporary is delighted to feature a virtual online solo exhibition by award winning contemporary artist Christy Burdock.

About

This curated selection of mostly new works are studies of socio-political issues and power structures at work in the lives of everyday people. Visualised through large scale intricately detailed paintings the artist explores topics such as identity politics, corruption, gender issues in the workplace, populism and religion.

Burdock’s intriguing contemporary works are drawn from her imagination and memory, creating new worlds infused with the dark sensibility of Expressionist practice. While her paintings are infused with a disturbing and otherworldly tone they reference politics, sex, and religion. Burdock notes: “My interests lie in observing emerging ideologies as they manifest within smaller groups, looking at how they ripple through society.”
During lockdown caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic the artist was advised to be ‘extra cautious’; From this new works emerged responding to isolation and the impending economic crisis affecting many artists.

Highly celebrated Burdock holds an MA from The Royal College of Art and an honours BA from Central St Martin's School of Art, London.
