About

In addition to perusing the art that's available, the Christmas Sale will also be a great opportunity to find out more about the courses in representational painting and drawing held at Northern Realist.

Northern Realist was set up and is run by Christopher Clements, it is based close to Manchester city centre and runs regular courses in figurative drawing and painting. The teaching is based on time honoured techniques and disciplines, emphasising strong draughtsmanship as a foundation for figurative painting. Good observational drawing skills are often over looked in current art education but are essential, not only for figurative drawing and painting, but also a wide range of visual arts such as animation, fashion and all forms of design.

Kieran Ingram is an Australian artist now based near Manchester and the Peak District. He studied at the Angel Academy of Art in Florence where he was  a contemporary of Christopher. Still life is the primary focus of Kieran's work as he loves the control over composition and attention to detail afforded by this type of painting. He has also produced a large number of landscape paintings in the past few years, many of which portray Greater Manchester, the Peak District and surrounding countryside. Literature, natural history, archaeology and anthropology are common subjects explored through his work. He has exhibited widely in the UK and Australia and has been the recipient of a number of high profile prizes.
