Learn the basics of letterpress printing with artist Helen Peyton. Exploring the fascinating nature of fonts, you will print with wooden type, layer colour and mix techniques to create your own Christmas cards and wrapping paper.

This workshop includes a glass of mulled wine or hot chocolate and a mince pie.

About the artist

Helen is artist in residence and founder/director of Smart Gallery (Social Museum & Art Gallery), a Turner Prize nominated project that invites the public to loan objects that would engage them in an exhibition. Helen makes artworks and contemporary linocuts stirred by the diverse nature and delights in this collection. Her inspiration came after an extensive residency with Craven Museum & Gallery and her ongoing love of objects, their stories, histories and their association to our emotions.

Recent works from have been shown at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and Royal Society of Printmakers during their Masters series, Helen is both collected by and Artist Ambassador at Leeds City Art Gallery.
