Christian Hook Evolves Darwin’s Theories in Latest Solo Show
About
Clarendon Fine Art is pleased to announce the launch of The Darwin Series, the latest solo art exhibition by award-winning artist Christian Hook. This latest exhibition is inspired by a close reading of On the Origin of Species, the landmark work of scientific literature written by Charles Darwin in 1859. Hook explores Darwin’s theory of evolution and its concepts of adaption, modification and variation, through equestrian imagery, allowing the artist to investigate the anatomy of a horse in a unique way.
Recently accorded the rare honour of Freedom of the City of Gibraltar, Christian Hook has become one of the most sought-after artists in Europe. His celebrated sitters include Sarah Duchess of York, Alan Cumming, Sue Johnston and Mick Hucknall. Hook’s work is held in many important private collections including that of His Royal Highness Prince Edward, as well as in the permanent collection of the Scottish National Gallery, the Museum of Liverpool and the Bolton Museum.
