SuperBigmouth is a new ensemble led by bassist and composer Chris Lightcap, combining his two ensembles, Bigmouth and Superette.
About
Bigmouth features tenor saxophonists, Tony Malaby and Chris Cheek, keyboardist Craig Taborn, and drummer Gerald Cleaver. The group has performed, recorded and toured together for the better part of the last 20 years, and its most recent album, Epicenter was named one of the best CDs of 2015 by the New York Times, NPR and the LA Times. The original music on Epicenter was the product of Lightcap’s last NJW commission. Assembled in 2013, Superette is Lightcap’s all electric band featuring guitarists Jonathan Goldberger and Curtis Hasselbring alongside drummer Dan Rieser. The group’s forthcoming self-titled album will be released in the spring of 2018 on Royal Potato Family and features special guests Nels Cline and John Medeski.
