Chiaroscuri Veristi

To mark the centenary of the death of the great writer Giovanni Verga, Sicily organised a series of commemorative events. The Acitrezza art school has helped to promote some of these events, producing a collection of chiaroscuro works that will be exhibited in Assisi in a gallery in the historic centre. An artistic and literary twinning was born between two Italian villages that throughout history have left a cultural mark on the memory of many.

The works exhibited in Assisi in Via Borgo Aretino 25 - (Civic Gallery 25 Piccola Galleria), are works of art finely realised using the chiaroscuro technique with pencil. The chiaroscuro is an artistic light effect that consists in emphasising images, through the definition of light and shadow on the drawn surfaces, by superimposing the shades.

The works refer to short stories, characters and in particular landscapes experienced by Verga.  Acitrezza, a magical place where the writer set "I Malavoglia", is repeatedly presented, the same Acitrezza that for 20 years has hosted the art school established and directed by Maestro Salvo Coglitori.
