English Text
In complicated times, the act of coming together with others takes on a particular urgency. Getting together, exchanging ideas and experiencing face-to-face encounters allows us to work through, understand and process our reality, and thus position ourselves in relation to it. There are few locations better suited to this than the kitchen, a place of transformation and pleasure, hospitality and solace. It is known for being the heart of the party precisely because we linger there in (relaxed) conversation, perhaps while looking for something to eat or pulling another bottle out of the fridge.
For CHEZ AXEL, we are transposing this idea of the private kitchen into a quasi-public space. The participating artists each receive a recipe from Axel Obiger, which they can then respond to in their own way – be that through a process of interpretation, modelling or transformation. The exhibition is to be installed on the day of the opening – cooked up in a flash, as it were. Visitors can expect a “feast” of art, and of course there will also be plenty to eat and drink. We look forward to seeing you at the opening of CHEZ AXEL. Feel free to bring a healthy appetite!

In challenging times, the act of coming together with others takes on increasing importance. In the kitchen, a place of transformation and hospitality, the “heart of the party,” we can get together in a relaxed way, feel at home, and keep in touch. CHEZ AXEL transposes the private kitchen into a semi-public exhibition space. The participating artists each receive a recipe from Axel Obiger, which they can then critique and transform via their art. Through this shared dialogue, a “feast” of art will come together on the opening evening; the cultural sustenance will be accompanied by a cold buffet.
