Proud to be based in such a dynamic part of London, the gallery’s ‘Chelsea Exhibition’, from the 3rd of June until the 18th June, involves nine international artists who have been driven to employ glimpses into the ever evolving beauty of its characterful landscape.
About
Chelsea boasts a range of picturesque scenery perfect for capturing in paint. Pretty boutiques, Michelin star restaurants, bold landmarks and chic architecture naturally lend themselves to brilliant original landscapes. Enjoyed by tourists and local residents alike, this much beloved area is both filled with a rich history and present day contemporary flair.
The show demonstrates glimpses of the ever-evolving perspectives of the district and its ceaseless charm, presenting cityscape paintings inspired by the area by nine contemporary artists. These include Michael Alford, Richard Gower, David Wilson, Michael Steinbrick, Carlos Arriaga, Nathan Neven, David Farren, Juan del Pozo and Tushar Tabale.
With so much to see and do here, British painter Michael Alford imparts the buzzing atmosphere of Sloane Square from day until night. Offering a comprehensive overview of the landscape, our painters have drawn from both classical viewpoints and unexpected perspectives, such as Madrid urbanite Carlos Arriaga who merges the natural and architectural qualities in one artwork. Few place names hold the same cachet as Chelsea, which remains a major muse for our artists who appreciate the area and its vibrant spectacles as much as we do. The Battersea Power Station inspires the magical pastel vistas of Spanish artist Juan Del Pozo to the rain engulfed canvases of American Realist Michael Steinbrick.
It is no wonder these handpicked artists have been urged to create snapshots that are infused with the thoroughfare’s captivating energy, producing a range of charming interpretations in primarily oils or the finest mixed media. Often presented in complementary frames, the show engages with simply delightful candid portraits of the King’s Road and surrounding gems of the area just a stones throw away.
We invite you to discover your very own favourite scenic viewpoint on display in the gallery and also available on our website.
