Marlborough Contemporary presents an exhibition of new works from American artist Charlie Roberts. Roberts’ work experiments with various subjects and styles.
About
His exhibition ‘Juicy’ fuses elements of hip-hop subculture with myriad art history influences - from Byzantine iconography to Matisse, via folk art and comic books - representing the artist's freestyle approach to high and low culture. Featuring some 200 drawings and gouache on paper, the exhibition will be hung in a Salon-style.
Roberts has had solo exhibitions internationally, including Kravets/Wehby, New York; Atomic Gallery, London; Richard Heller Gallery, Los Angeles and Trafo Kunsthall, Oslo. In Spring 2016 Roberts and Danish brand Soulland collaborated to create a limited-edition collection of menswear.
