About

Born in 1952, Charles Simpson attended Glasgow School of Art in the early 1970s. After graduation with a degree in graphic design he worked as a designer in Edinburgh. In 1990 he left full time employment and moved to the Scottish Borders to work as a freelance designer and artist. He had taken up recreational painting in a small way in his mid thirties and had his first gallery show in 1990. In 1999 he gave up his design work and began painting full-time. Painting has been his passion and sole income since then.
