OCCUPY MY TIME GALLERY PRESENTS CHARLIE PI CHANNELLING LIZZIE BORDEN

About

Lizzie Borden took an axe. Gave her mother forty whacks. When she saw what she had done. She gave her father forty-one. BUT IN BETWEEN SHE DID THE IRONING The rhyme gives the impression that Lizzie was a little girl; she was in her thirties. It was her stepmother not her mother. Her father killed her pet pigeons shortly before the murders. Lizzie Borden claimed she suffered from ‘brown-outs' in which she had no memory of what she had done. These episodes occurred at a particular time of the month. Lizzie was found not guilty possibly because the jury could not believe that such a respectable young woman could commit such a horrendous act; possibly because they could not discuss the presence of menstrual blood.
