Channel, is a show of new paintings by Diane Rogan with Both Gallery, a contemporary art space.
About
The work presented at Both Gallery expands on themes of power dynamics within urban landscapes and the portrayal of the female body in art history. These paintings continue to draw from arts historical depictions of the female form, particularly in relation to water.
A still, reflective surface invites quiet introspection, yet water is never truly passive. It is a space of transformation—incubation, metamorphosis, and renewal—while also holding the potential for stasis, fear, and trauma. It harbors the haunting figures of our dreams, myths, and legends.
Through painting, I explore the interconnectedness of human and non-human forms, seeking moments where fluidity, contradiction, and coexistence emerge in an ongoing, dynamic exchange.
