A celebration of ''African'' culture in Paris.
About
Château Rouge is a celebration of ''African'' culture in Paris. Nestled between Montmartre and the Goutte d'Or, this district has been home for several decades to the largest African market in the capital. Beauty creams, exotic foods, colorful fabrics - this is where the African diaspora come to refuel every weekend. As a child, Sandrine Laure would accompany her mother as she made her way between the stalls. The fruits and vegetables, both foreign and familiar, fascinated her. This series is an ode to the dishes found in Château Rouge, and a way to remember the essence of a neighbourhood that is now threatened by gentrification.
This project by Sandrine Laure Dippa was shortlisted for the Sony World Photography Awards 2020 and displayed in Tokyo, Japan. The exhibition will display 5 pieces of that work.
