'Certum quod factum'
A solo exhibition by Courtney Askey
18 - 26 March
Tues - Sat 11am - 6pm
Leicester Contemporary, 16 Market Street, Leicester, LE1 6DP
PRIVATE VIEW: Fri 18 March 6-9pm
In Certum quod factum, artist Courtney Askey creates an exhibition of contemporary artworks conceptualising the cyborgian self portrait. This work of autofiction draws parallels between the life of the artist and that of the fictional cyborg character, Hercy B. Exploring themes of identity, solitude, labour and the digital self, Courtney reflects on what it means to be an artist in 2022.
Certum quod factum.
(One is certain only of what one builds.)
The exhibition features a body of work created in video, installation, sound, and text that was created during the artist’s six month residency at Leicester Contemporary between September 2021 and March 2022.
