The contents of this Ceramics and Wood Firing course are based on three pillars: wood firing, hand-building and throwing techniques for both sculpture and pottery, and individual participant’s unique artistic development.
About
Ceramics Course with Marc Lancet at Cerdeira Home For Creativity. Learn ancient techniques of ceramic sculpture, pottery and wood-firing in the Sasukenei Smokeless Kiln, and contemporary ceramics.
The course fee includes:
- Integration in small working groups (4 to 6 people);
- Training 6 - 8 hours/day with technical assistant, spoken in English and Portuguese;
- Studio open 12 hours a day;
- All materials;
- Shared room accommodation in our Residences (shared house with equipped kitchen, changing room, washing machine and Wifi) or 10% discount for individual accommodation with a minimum of 2 nights;
- Welcome dinner.

Marc Lancet is ceramicist and sculptour, exploring the techniques and aesthetics of woodfiring for many years. Besides teaching at the Solano Community College in California, USA, he has exhibited, presented workshops and lectures internationally. His work ranges from large-scale ceramic sculpture, to ceramics for the Japanese Tea Ceremony (Chanoyu) and flower arranging (Ikebana). Marc Lancet has co-authored (with Masakazu Kusakabe) the book “Japanese Woodfired Ceramics”
