A live-performance hybrid by Canada’s Volcano Theatre, starring soprano, Neema Bickersteth; part classical song, part dance, part projection, and entirely theatrical.
About
An adventurous live-performance hybrid from Canada’s Volcano Theatre, starring Canadian soprano, Neema Bickersteth. A radical reinvention of the recital form, it is part classical song, part dance, part projection, and entirely theatrical.
Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s Orlando, and Alice Walker’s In Search of Our Mothers’ Gardens, the show imagines a different way to negotiate history. Through the eyes of our soprano protagonist – a kind of modern day “everywoman” – we move through the past century, using visual art and wordless song to tell a story about the evolution of identity spanning the last 100 years up to the present day.
Presented by Volcano Theatre (Canada) and Richard Jordan Productions.
