The Art of Food: A Recipe for Community, is a free, one-day, all-ages event that will bring together members of Los Angeles’s artist and culinary communities in a day of enchantment that explores LA's rich and diverse food cultures.
Center for the Arts Eagle Rock (CFAER) specializes in creating transformative art experiences for children and adults in northeast LA. CFAER is creating a community art and food experience on November 3 as part of this year's CURRENT:LA FOOD art festival.
Local artists and CFAER instructors will be leading interactive art experiences in Exposition Park Rose Garden from 11 am to 5pm. With food as the theme, children and adults can imagine, create and have fun with projects such as printmaking, drawing, painting and even a one minute poetry slam, all the while learning about the heritage of food and family in our communities.
The day will include a costumed figure drawing picnic and painting experience, pop-up food poetry, printmaking with vegetables, and heritage chocolate making accompanied by music. Visitors are invited to participate by bringing their own recipes and family food stories to the site, create paintings, prints, and poetry in the rose garden, and contribute to a shared, illustrated recipe book that will reflect the identities and heritage of our vibrant communities.
