About
The New Ashgate Gallery are delighted to present a carefully curated ‘Celebration of Illustration’. An often over-looked artform with a diverse and far reaching remit, from cartoons to book covers, scenic sketches to branding and decoration. Illustration is more in our conscious than we perhaps give it credit, and through this exhibition the New Ashgate Gallery explores the importance of visual communication in everyday life along with the pleasure of drawing as a feast for the eyes.
The upcoming show features local and nationally acclaimed artists, Diana Boyle, Claire Caulfield, Eliza Southwood, Nick Tankard, Liz Toole and James Warren.
To accompany the exhibition we are running free and accessible events; Artists and students of any discipline are offered the opportunity for career guidance and portfolio appraisal with Gina Cross, Gallery Owner and former Guardian Art Editor. Gina is adept at finding commercial applications to your work and can advise on both portfolio presentation and career direction. There will also be hands-on workshops for young people interested in illustration, with an opportunity to display completed work in the gallery for the final days of the exhibition.
For more information on the free portfolio appraisal sessions or to sign up to the children’s illustration workshops please contact the gallery.
