Catherine Kleeli premieres at PAD a new body of her âFamily Matters' project. Through original prints and paintings, her current contemplation describes pictorially that which many remain immutable about the journey into dementia.
Using allegory and metaphor, she attempts openly and sensitively to convey the feelings of an intimate, real-time witness, conveying the observations she has made of the lost identity, independence and mental capacity experienced through the cloak of her mother's dementia a reductive condition, which gradually erodes the capacity for verbal communication, like mapping a return journey from adulthood back to infancy and a final place of rest.
