CATCHLIGHT is a group show of seven artists working in varied media and contexts.

Here in NYC we are constantly overlapping: on subways, in apartment buildings, in line at the post office, at shows and getting coffee.  This show approximates a jettisoning of reliability in favor of artistic camaraderie. We are welders, weavers, painters, and observers.  

Our materials and subject matter include: found objects and oil paintings, reclaimed wood and inkjet prints. Investigations into the artistry of engineering, photographs challenging colonial legacies, and intricate abstract welded steel.  

The show is conceptualized to showcase our interlocking contexts while mapping a spacious and individual landscape. Drawing from proxemics, CATCHLIGHT works to invert intimate and public space. Spending time with the show, the lines of connection between the artists, and the city they live in, become clear.
