AboutFor one night only, and to coincide with it's its annual Head to Head exhibition; I Would Like to Join a Club and Hit Myself with It, Castlefield Gallery is delighted to be hosting Manchester Art Gallery's Thursday Lates on Thursday 14 August.
Castlefield Gallery has been working with Manchester Art Gallery to explore the concept of Culturefield, artist Ryan Gander's imagined place with the perfect conditions for creativity. At the same time as the renowned British conceptual artist's major solo exhibition, Make every show like it's your last, at Manchester Art Gallery (3 July 14 Sept 2014), Castlefield Gallery is presenting Ryan Ganders work Porthole to Culturefield Revisited, alongside new work by five Northwestbased artists; Robert Carter, Helen Collett, Monty, Lois MacDonald, and Joe Fletcher Orr.
At 6:30pm join Manchester Art Gallery Curator, Kate Jesson for a tour of Make every show like it's your last. At 7:30pm Castlefield Gallery Director, Kwong Lee will chair a panel discussion with Robert Carter, Helen Collett, Monty, Lois MacDonald, Joe Fletcher Orr, and Kate Jesson to discuss artist led projects, spaces, exhibitions, and events and using the projects of artists in the exhibition as a starting point; Lionel Dobie Project, Manchester (Helen Collett, Lois MacDonald) The Exhibition Centre for the Life and Use of Books, Salford (Robert Carter, Daniel Fogarty, Lauren Velvick) Toast, Manchester (Monty) Cactus, Liverpool (Joe Orr), and Fairfield International, Suffolk (Ryan Gander, Simon Turnbull). Then to round off the evening, at 8:30pm team CG will lead the way on the short walk to Castlefield Gallery for a tour of the I Would Like to Join a Club and Hit Myself with It exhibition.
