CAST Film Club presents Clément Cogitore

About

Award-winning French artist Clément Cogitore explores encounters with the sacred, supernatural and unexplained. The Resonant Interval (2016) examines the apparent sounds of the Northern Lights and the appearance of a mysterious luminous object in Alaska. An Archipelago (2011) uncovers the path of a British Army nuclear vessel that crashed into the Isle of Skye whilst Untitled (2014) is a story of symbols that may also be read as a metaphor for the act of creation.

Born in 1983 in Colmar, Cogitore lives and works between Paris and Strasbourg. His first film was selected for the Cannes International Film Festival. His work has been shown in exhibition in Palais de Tokyo, Paris; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and MoMA New York. In 2016 he was awarded both the 18th Fondation d’Entreprise Ricard Prize for Contemporary Art and the Sciences Po Prize for Contemporary Art Award.
