About

10th September 2.30pm — 5.30pm. Julio Adrà £o: Building a Solo Narrative In 2005, Julio won the Brazil's biggest Acting Award, the Shell Prize, for his tour-de-force performance in A Descoberta das Americas. Since then he has gone on to perform the show over 500 times to an audience of over 200,000 people. We're delighted that he has agreed to share some of the exercises and tricks and ideas that he uses to build a solo narrative, both in terms of dramaturgy and performance. A must for anyone who wants to perform, direct or write a solo show. 11th September 2.30pm — 5.30pm. Tryo Teatro Banda: The Modern Minstrel Since their formation in 2000, Tryo Teatro Banda have been exploring the idea of the minstrel as storyteller. Harking back to the tradition of the wandering entertainer peddling stories from village to village, they are constantly evolving and adapting their practice, learning new instruments and pushing the boundaries of how music, text, poetry, dance, magic, juggling and acrobatics can combine! Join Tryo for an afternoon, bring a story you want to tell and discover the subversive power of your inner minstrel. 12th September 2.30pm — 5.30pm. Anima Teatro: Minimalism in Movement Every theatre actor, director, designer and writer has heard or been told that less is more. However, doing less is harder than it seems. Anima Teatro's Ana Cordelia Aldama will be sharing practical tips and exercises to help you cut away the excesses that can muddy a performance. Exploring the idea of minimalism on stage, Ana will help you refine and simplify your movements so that your storytelling becomes cleaner, clearer and more precise. 14th September 2.30pm — 5.30pm. Troupp Pas D'Argent : Storytelling Bodies Since forming in 2006, Troupp have become one of Brazil's leading young theatre companies, winning over 50 national awards for their highly visual and physical brand of storytelling. Combining Commedia Dell'Arte, Mime, Clown, Circus and North East Brazil's Mamulengo theatre tradition, Troupp will share their working methods and guide you on a journey from imagination to movement. The aim of the workshop is to give you a set of tools that will allow you to develop as an independent creator and composer of your own physical and emotional story.
