About
Casa Neutrale shows the different but interrelated production of meaning by bodies and concepts. The material and semiotic foundations of the creation of meaning become visible in the disassembly and reassembly: observing the organization of a message without understanding its meaning; following a meaning on the traces of its material production; taking apart the medially interlinked levels of a representation; asking about the conditions of a space for readability.
In the video "Nail Bars" (2023) Julia Eichler develops a conversation with visitors and technicians of nail salons in London and Madrid. They talk about fashion and zeitgeist, the creation of their own role and self-image. The camera shows the work of hands and intimacy without filming faces. The nails usually last two weeks.
Fabian Ginsberg's sequence image series dissects the aesthetics of panel images, allowing for an epistemology of representation. Divided into processual sequences, the viewer sees: concepts as typological patterns, indices of the body and handwriting, and reflections and perusal of shared space.
Frank Maier's paintings are diagrams of personal experience. An ever-evolving set of graphic signs enables syntagmatic pictorial compositions. A doubly subjective way of representation, content and rhetorical procedures, which remains unreadable for the recipient, but whose affects offer themselves to her in a projecting way to be redesigned, as a carrier not of the search for meaning, but the finding of meaning. Shown here are examples of: type and figure. An imagery rather of parts, of fragments. A metaphor of fragmentation and subjective reconstruction.
