This is McConnell’s first solo exhibition since graduating with a degree in Fine Art in 2017. You will be able to view this new body of work inside the studio gallery at Colonnade House from 27 October – 7 November.
About
For many years, McConnell has utilised the creative process in a variety of media for its therapeutic effect in managing the emotions evoked by grief and loss. This particular body of work is in response to managing the loss of a dear friend in a time of social lockdown. Sam T-G aka Archi Johnson was the person to introduce McConnell to Colonnade House with an invitation to join his exhibition ‘Discordance’ in 2017. McConnell has also exhibited in the Worthing Light Festival since its inception
in the same year at the invitation of Jessica Gill.
Here, McConnell returns to painting small, unique pieces in primary and secondary coloured oils in a part continuation from the work shown back in March when supporting Howell in his exhibition ‘Freestyle’. Working between drawing books (of which there are five) and oil on canvas, the shapes this time, however, are defined by the absence of paint, the lines created with a tiny brush allowing for time to reflect on the absence of those loved and lost.
Open Tuesday – Saturday // 10.00 – 17.00 (Closed on Mondays and Sundays)
