Students will be taken through a brief history of caricature, looking at its origins and at the different styles of its practitioners.
We will observe and analyse not only the proportions of the face but also its expressions and movements, highlighting appropriate characteristics to arrive at an accurate description of personality.
Students will spend a day caricaturing the great and the good from the vast collections at the National Portrait Gallery and will draw from the life model and video in the studio to observe both everyday faces and famous personalities.
