This Thursday November 23rd from 4-8pm Dr. Erica Moiah James will host a casual drop in clinic to engage in an open discussion about Caribbean art (and all topics adjacent and beyond) moderated by curator Jessica Taylor. Have a coffee, drink a beer, pull up a chair and feel free to speak your mind at this casual evening event.
Dr Erica Moiah James is an art historian and curator who teaches in Department of Art and Art History at The University of Miami. Her research centers on indigenous, modern, and contemporary art of the Caribbean, wider Americas, and the African Diaspora. She is the 2023-24 Clark- Oakley Fellow at The Clark Art Institute and Williams College, Williamstown, Massachusetts. She was the founding Director and Chief Curator of the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (NAGB) and her forthcoming book "After Caliban: Caribbean Art in the Global Imaginary" will be published with Duke University Press.
Jessica Taylor is a Barbadian curator and producer based in London. She is currently Deputy Artistic Director of the International Curators Forum (ICF) and co-curated the Diaspora Pavilion exhibitions in Venice, Wolverhampton and Sydney and the ongoing iterations and programming in London at Block 336 in Brixton. She was a 2022 Research Fellow at the Caribbean Cultural Institute at the Perez Art Museum Miami.
