About
Moving between the old and the new, between the local and the universal, between technology and nature. CAN REON offers visitors an exhilarating experience for all the senses. CAN REON festival promises an eclectic evening of cutting edge concerts, performances, art installations, all accompanied by wine and food.
Inspired by histories of the Spanish Civil War, the Miquel Barcelona Dance Companywill perform a dance around the Tree Trunk Bench, an installation by Dutch designer Jurgen Bey. Accompanied by her band, Amsterdam-based performer and composer Genevieve Murphy will give a concert in which she explores the idea of empathy – using dance music, electronic pop songs and free improvisation in the outdoor space of La Pedrera (the old quarry). Berlin-based media-artist Marco Barotti presents an installation of his robotic woodpeckers, creating an infinite soundscape that interacts with visitors’ mobile phones, whilst an immersive performance sees pianist and composer Carles Viarnes join forces with digital artist Alba G. Corral, both from Barcelona. Beyond the scheduled performances, visitors can experience art and video works by the likes of Cristina Lucas, Marjan Laaper, Jan Rothuizen and others. Meanwhile, a series of screens installed on site allow visitors a closer look at the animals that visit CAN REON as night falls. The experience will be accompanied by food, as well as the excellent wine of local producers.
