'A chronological selection of eight paintings by Camilla Hasler. Born in London and trained in Italy until March 2007. These works shed light on the artists unusual imaginary world.' Description of two paintings from the show: : Morrocan Leather Cushion: This work is of a leather cushion, a found object. It is surreal and a little cubist in that the proportions are exaggerated and even the perspective is altered. The pattern is meant to transfix the view with its impossible proportions. ‘ Surreal Still Life with Clock': This work is about time. It shows a wooden figure whose hands are about to enter a clock on a bright cloth. It symbolises the will to stop time and there is a sense that the clock is about to consume the figure. Is it the clock that controls man or the man who controls the clock?' Camilla Hasler.
